Tucanos Brazilian Grill - Gourmet Food Meets Buffet in Provo

October 2nd, 2006 by Cameron

Now this is a tough one. Can I write a review of my all-time favorite restaurant, while properly doing it justice? I sometimes think that it is unfair to attempt to put into words the feelings and tastes that can be experienced within Tucanos’ walls. I have tried to do this very thing in the past, only to give up and urge the other person to “just go”. It is the only way to truly understand. However, I will attempt to let everyone in Utah and the rest of the world know why they must make it a priority to get to Tucanos Brazilian Grill as soon as possible, while understanding that it may just be impossible to fully convey the unique taste experience.

Upon entering, you will immediatley begin to salivate. Do not worry, this is a perfectly normal physical response to the smell that lingers in the air. With time, a similar effect will be acheived at the simple thought of going to this wonderful place. As you are lead to your table, you will pass the cooking area, and you will be exposed to the many varities of food grilling over an open flame. The salivation will be intensified at this point, so be careful as to not drool. This is considered bad manners. Read the rest of this entry »

Joe Banditos Mexican Fiestaurant

October 1st, 2006 by Matt

Dear Reader, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to 1435 N. Main St. in Springville. This mission will involve entering Joe Banditos Fiestaurant, ordering Steak Fajitas, eating them, and then giving your best effort to deny they are extrememly delicious and highly affordable. You will see why this mission is….impossible. Should you break into joyous dancing and singing upon eating said fajitas, http://www.whatscookinutah.com/ will disavow any knowledge of your existence( but secretly feel great for you!) This review will self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2…… Read the rest of this entry »

The Costco Lunch - Yet Another Bargain at Costco Wholesale

September 28th, 2006 by Cameron

Yes, I am fully aware that Costco is not a restaurant. But I would be doing both you and I a great disservice if I did not mention the convenience, speed, value, and downright outstanding quality of the Costco lunch. Only got a few minutes? Only a few bucks? Just not that hungry? Really, really hungry? No matter what lunch-time obstacles may have been thrown your way, Costco is right there to boost you over that hurdle. Matiki Island BBQ - Island Food at it’s Finest!

September 28th, 2006 by Cameron

This review will be short, sweet, and to the point. And when I say sweet, oh do I mean sweet! Matiki Island BBQ does one thing, and it does it very well: barbecue meat. Now this isn’t your southern-type bbq joint, with sauce and baby back ribs and baked beans. Nay, this is totally different. This is simpler. This is sweeter. This is Island style. This is…different. Different is very, very good.

My first experience was a late night at the office about a year ago. Most of you know how it goes; you’re working late, you get hungry, you send someone. I don’t know who ran that fateful night, but they awoke within me a sleeping giant of insatiable appetite Read the rest of this entry »

The Sensuous Sandwich

September 27th, 2006 by Matt

SSlogoNew.gif

Dear friends, I want to introduce to you, a long time friend of mine….. The Sensuous Sandwich. While I enjoy many restaurants, and many sandwich shops in this valley, I will state boldy, this is my all time favorite. So the question is why. Why do I love it so? Let me tell you…..

There are two locations for The Sensuous Sandwich, one in Provo, one in Orem. Both locations could easily be considered a “hole in the wall” compared to your average restaurant. The seating is hardly new, the walls sport paint jobs from 20 years ago and are plastered in posters from the 80’s. You may think I’m stating this as a downside to the shop, but I love it! You feel like you just walked into a scene from rocky, It’s old school. Read the rest of this entry »

The Melting Pot - The Only Fondue Restaurant in Utah?

September 25th, 2006 by Cameron

meltingpot.gifAlright, this is my first entry, so I had a bit of an internal battle as to which restaurant I should write about. Did I mention in my Intro that I eat out a lot? Anyway, what emerged triumphant was, oddly enough, not exclusively a Utah restaurant. Two weeks ago, I was trying to decide just where to take my beautiful wife for our anniversary, and The Melting Pot was inevitably suggested by more than a few family members and friends. As you know, it is impossible to live in Northern Utah and not hear The Melting Pot suggested as a special dining spot about, oh, 5,418 times by now. So I finally caved and made a reservation to “dip into something different”. Read the rest of this entry »
